    Street Smarts

A new permit must be purchased each school year in order to park in any of the school’s parking lots.  Purchasing the permit requires 3 steps:

    1.  Completion of the free two-hour California Highway Patrol Start Smart traffic safety class by student and their parent/guardian.

    2.  Complete and submit the Parking Permit form.

    3.  Purchase the permit in the Webstore.  Cost for the 2024-2024 permit is $100.

The Start Smart presentations will start in August for parking pass eligibility in the 2024/20 school year and beyond. At this class, officers from the California Highway Patrol will discuss traffic avoidance techniques, collision causing factors, driver/parent responsibilities and seat belt usage. All SRVUSD comprehensive high schools will offer 2-3 free classes each year that are open to anyone. The class must only be taken once during a student’s high school career and must be taken at a SRVUSD High School location.  Reservations are required.

If you missed the DVHS Counseling Department grade-specific presentations about scheduling, academic planning, and other counseling related topics, their presentation is available on the left side of the Counseling home page.

Dear Dougherty Valley High School Families,

As our community grows, our goals are to continue positive "Safety Efforts" and to adhere to civic codes.  Please Review the following Safety Rules:

BY-LAW:  Fire Lanes Must Be Clear At All Times.  Not to be used for pick-up or drop-off.  This is considered a civil code violation.

    BICYCLIST

    • mac怎么上youtube THEIR BIKES while on campus.
    • Bicyclists should not ride on sidewalks, or weave in between cars.  Bicycles must be locked up in the designated bike rack areas.

    SKATEBOARDS

    • Are not to be ridden on campus.
    • Skateboard Racks are available in the Bike Corral located behind the Career Tech.
    • If not utilizing the skateboard rack, SKATEBOARDS MUST BE KEPT IN LOCKERS ALL DAY OR THEY CAN BE LEFT IN THE CAMPUS SUPERVISORS OFFICE.

    *NEED TO KNOW TRAFFIC TIPS:

    • We have closed off the parking lot under the solar panels to all drop-off traffic. ONLY VEHICLES DISPLAYING A CURRENT PARKING PASS, or those individuals needing to park and visit the office will be allowed to enter this area.
    • Visitor spots are located in the 3rd row of the lot.
    • If you are DROPPING A STUDENT OFF and not parking, please enter the school at the driveway marked with a "D" in the diagram below.  All drop-off traffic will be routed to the drop-off loop, which has been designed to handle a large volume of vehicles in a short amount of time.  Vehicles that are dropping off a student must be in the far right lane of the drop-off loop.  Students may not exit vehicles that are in the center or left lanes of the drop-off loop
    • Students and others who are parking should enter the school at the signal at the intersection of Albion Way and Arrowfield Way, which is marked with a "P" in the diagram.
    • Additionally, parents and students should not be using the fire lane along side the Performing Arts Center.  This fire lane is meant for emergency vehicles and staff vehicles to access the rear parking lot.  Please refrain from entering the fire lane designated with an "S" in the diagram below.

*Please see parking lot diagram below.

    Key to diagram:  V=visitor  P=parking  S=students  D=direction

    REMINDERS:

    • Pedestrians should always use a crosswalk to cross streets and driveways.
    • Students should remove headphones and listen and look both ways before crossing streets.
    • Vehicles should follow all posted traffic rules, including speed limits, no cell phones, and turning prohibitions.  PEDESTRIANS Always have the right of way.
    • U-Turns are illegal on Albion Way.  The San Ramon Police Department has assured the school that they will be patrolling this area more heavily as we implement these changes.
    • NO PARKING, NO DROP-OFF OR PICK-UP IN FRONT OF THE MAIN GYM.
    • NO PARKING at VENTURE.
    • PLEASE KEEP THE INTERSECTIONS AND ROADWAYS ON AND OFF CAMPUS CLEAR SO TRAFFIC FLOWS SMOOTHLY.
    • Pedestrians ALWAYS need to wait when you SEE THE "RED HAND" Flashing.

Our main goal is to ensure safe travel for students to school each day whether that be on foot, by car or via bicycle.  THANK YOU for your attention to these details as you visit Dougherty Valley High School.  Have a wonderful day and Happy New Year!

    Dear Wildcat Families,

Welcome to a new school year and to our unique community of collaboration between parents, administrators, teachers and students.  Our high school is not only one of the top high schools in California but also ranked in the top 50 high schools in the United States!!

These accolades don’t just happen by themselves.  Not only is this tremendous success due to the extraordinary work by the administration, teachers, staff and students, but also the continued support of you, the DVHS community.  We have a long tradition within the Dougherty Valley of supporting our schools by donating to our school education funds.  This continued support at DVHS is one of the reasons that our school is continually recognized as one of the best.

The DVHS Education Fund has three main purposes:

    •    Reduce Class Sizes:  First, we reduce core academic class sizes (english, math, science) for all grades by paying for additional class sections — more classes = less students in a classroom.

    •    Classroom Supplies:  Second, we will, once again, cover the cost of all donated classroom supplies for every student.  To put it simply, you will not be asked at registration or receive a letter from your student’s teachers asking for a check to cover the cost of needed classroom supplies.

    •    iphone怎样能看youtube  Third, goals that support our school and all students include:

    •    Increasing donations to make large capital expenditures to replace aging equipment.

    •    Bolstering the engineering and science departments by providing new equipment and technology,

    •    Growing the fine arts department by providing additional equipment and supplies.

To succeed, we are asking every family to contribute $465 per student or $800 per family.  If you’re able to give more, additional contributions are always welcome, but contributions of ANY amount are gratefully received.  As the DVHS Education Fund benefits every student, we urge every family to give something - even if you presently are not able to give the full amount.

    Essential fundraising for 2024-21

Even with the uncertainty of what this school year holds, we have committed to fund 30 classroom sections (at a cost of $357,000) and to continue our plan to replace all the aging overhead projectors at an annual cost of $34,000.

Your annual donation at registration is vital because there are no ED Fund fundraisers throughout the year. A suggested donation is $465 per student/$800 per family. However, any amount that families can donate is greatly appreciated and will help us meet our annual goal.

Because of the generosity of our parent community, we continue to have the top school in the area and attract the best and brightest.

Thank you so much for your current and future support.

It is important to note that, once again, parents were not asked by their student's teachers for additional funds to cover necessary classroom supplies. The Ed Fund was able to cover the cost of all supplies needed by teachers to teach the curriculum they planned last year.

    The 2024-20 Major disbursements included:

    •    $324,104 for classroom sections

    •    $70,000 for classroom supplies

    •    $40,000 for Library furniture

You can make your annual donation several ways:

    1.      Go to DVHigh.net and in the “quick links” section in the upper left hand corner, click on “webstore” and then select “wildcat days registration”.  Choose one of the Education Fund options depending on the amount of your donation.

    2.     Pay your donation via credit card at the DVHS Ed Fund table during Wildcat Days Registration (we gladly accept Visa, MasterCard, AmEx and Discover cards)

    3.     Pay via check (made payable to DVHS Education Fund) at the DVHS Ed Fund table during Wildcat Days Registration

Mindful of the demands on your time and your wallet, the annual donation drive during the Wildcat Days registration is the ONLY fundraiser we hold. We do not hold an auction, car wash, cookie dough sale or any other fundraisers during the year.  So your support at registration is critical to fulfilling our goals.

Thank you so much for your continued support.  I am looking forward to another amazing school year.

    Sincerely,

    Dharmesh Mistry
